Abstract
Using virtual reality, the aim of the “Audience with a Hero” project was to develop and test new production processes which would enable audiences to experience a meaningful meeting with a “hero” in virtual space. Allowing the “hero” to share their personal story and answer questions in real time, but from pre-recorded content, this encounter provided each audience member with a personal face-to-face experience. Rooted in human conversational encounters, “Audience with a Hero” sought to transform the way in which these “meetings” could be produced in order to maximise efficiency and effectiveness in the creation of immersive experiences to engage audiences with the lives, knowledge, and talent of unique people.
