File not available for download.Abstract
This book reports the findings of the first of four commissioned research projects for the Low Pay Commission. It contributes to the Commission's remit to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the National Minimum Wage and provided valuable evidence to inform their second report. This project addresses pay, conditions of employment, job opportunities and knowledge of the National Minimum Wage (NMW) collected by survey (N=368) and interviews (N=42) of full-time students under 25 years. Differences in the treatment of students are explored in order to ascertain if the differential application of the NMW to young workers has a detrimental effect.
