Abstract

This volume brings together a series of studies which, from a gender perspective, seek to reconstruct various aspects of the lives and experiences of ancient Greek women from the Archaic period to the beginning of the Hellenistic era. The novelty of this work is that it does not limit itself to presenting a homogeneous and static image of Greek women, but seeks to offer a plural and dynamic picture of what it means to "be a woman" in ancient Greece. In other words, the emphasis is placed on women's diversity of experiences and realities, which are the result of geographical, status, political and economic differences, among others, without in any way ignoring other elements and shared experiences, as well as the social conditioning factors that contribute to shaping the female identity in the Greek world.
