Abstract
Facilitating improvement in practice is not a linear process and requires the integrated application of a range of theories and practical tools alongside the transferable knowledge and skills you are already mastering as part of the nursing programme. This chapter aims to put you on a sure footing for achieving this by enabling you to develop the fundamental knowledge and an outline of how to get the best out of the book; this includes an explanation of the conceptual model of healthcare improvement that we use to guide the content of the book and the adaptation of Langley et al (2009) Model for Improvement that we use to steer you through the improvement process in practice.
