    Abstract

Network virtualization was envisioned to enhance the capabilities of data centers. However, existing virtual data center network architectures are unable to exploit the features of network virtualization. In this paper, we propose a distributed virtual architecture that groups virtual machines into clusters of different service types. This architecture introduces a concept named abstraction layer consisting of virtual switches that are logically grouped together to perform the role of cluster heads. The abstraction layer provides better control and management of clusters. This architecture enables several features of network virtualization such as scalability, flexibility, high bandwidth, etc. However, in this work, we evaluated the failure of servers and virtual machines to prove the efficiency and scalability of the architecture
