Abstract

Este artículo propone el primer estudio teórico del fenómeno “Behind the GIF”: cómics amateurs diseñados para expandir y recontextualizar vídeos breves o GIF en comunidades en línea. El artículo parte del análisis un corpus extenso de estas estructuras narrativas intermediales y usa la teoría del semionauta de Bourriaud y los estudios de la cultura de los memes de Shifman para investigar estas historias hiperbreves e intermediales desde un punto de vista literario. El artículo muestra la creciente relevancia de esta narrativa intermedial como forma de desarrollo creativo en la cultura compartida y establece críticamente los rasgos comunes de este nuevo fenómeno dentro de la cultura memética. This article proposes the first theoretical study on the “Behind the GIF” phenomenon: amateur comics designed to further develop and re-contextualize short videos or GIFs on online communities. The article analyses an extensive corpus of these intermedia narrative structures and uses the semionaut theory (Bourriaud) and meme culture research (Shifman) to study this short-short intermedia stories from a literary point of view. The article proves the growing relevance of this intermedial narrative as a creative development in the shared culture and critically establishes the common characteristics of this new phenomenon in the meme culture.
