    Abstract

Cello(s) is a short (4:43), three miniature movement Electroacoustic piece which draws upon a single cello as the original sound source. Conceptually, the piece was influenced by early Cubist abstraction of reality. The sound palette was created using various playing techniques to excite a cello. The sounds were recorded from a multitude of listening or ‘view’ points over time. These recordings were then processed, organised in an abstracted manner, and then later reassembled with the intention that they would be the sonic equivalent of a Cubist image. Within the piece the multiple aural perspectives ‘oneself’ experiences during the process are brought together and presented with some sense of 'listening' simultaneity. Performed in Shanghai, China
