    Abstract

The paper compares Lacanian Psychoanalysis with the tradition of Revolutionary Marxism. The aim is not to achieve a combination or a compromise between these two forms of thought, but rather, to verify the hypothesis that between them there is an opposition that is, in fact, dialectical. Analogies in terms of the form of transmission, production and intervention resulting from the knowledge that is cultivated in both traditions are highlighted. In addition, sociological homologies between the two movements concerning the logic of formation of enemies, bureaucratic castes and critical review of the theory are examined. Then, the articulating importance of Althusser’s and Zizek’s thought is examined as two model cases concerning the hypothesis of dialectical opposition. The paper concludes by recognizing that both Lacanian Psychoanalysis (through sexuation theory) and Revolutionary Marxism (through the feminist theories) approach the non-reducible character of difference inside a certain universal. Femininity, as a common and subversive element within this opposition between psychoanalysis and Marxism, thus indicates the contradiction that is the paper’s hypothesis.
