Abstract
Fashion Revolution China focusses on the story behind the history of clothing. The curator Antony Bednall collected many of the pieces on display over a ten-year period while he lived and worked in Beijing. Fashion Revolution China analyses contemporary China by looking at how the fashion industry has been nurtured during a time of social revolution. As well as manufacturing garments for internationally recognised brands, local designers are creating beautiful collections and extravagant fashion events which reflect newfound wealth and global engagement. This text+work publication includes an informative essay by the curator and 13 colour plates. It is written in both English and Chinese. Bednall was academic director at Raffles Design Institute in Beijing and is now Head of the School of Design at Arts University Bournemouth. Published by text+work, TheGallery, The Arts University College Bournemouth 2011 (Now formally known as the Arts University Bournemouth).
