    Abstract

This installation re-presented and developed the outcomes from "Fabrika" a 3 week residency and exhibition at the Red Banner Factory, St Petersburg Russia. 1-20 August 2002. The installation at CUBE, one of the case study buildings researched for "Fabrika", included photographic and video documentation of factories in both Manchester and St Petersburg, the latter being combined to create a journey around an extended piece of architecture which was projected, a fabric model of the building made with the help of factory workers, recorded interviews in both English and Russian, video monitor "postcards" of interventions at the factory windows which layered Manchester and St Petersburg views. Photographs of the Red Banner Factory windows and curtains were printed onto translucent gauze curtains for the Gallery windows. The video journey through he hybrid "factory" was reinterpreted by TEA and reconstructed as a digital model by Adam Lee and Paul Blackburn.
