    Abstract

The present paper contains a numerical solution of the mixed convection flow of a continuously moving flat plate placed in a parallel moving stream of a micropolar fluid. The governing system of partial differential equations are converted to ordinary differential equations by using the similarity transformations, which are then solved numerically. Velocity, micro-rotation and temperature distributions have been obtained for different parameters, namely the Grashof number G and the Prandtl number Pr. Discussion has been given for both the cases i.e. the plate moving with more or less velocity as compared to that of free the stream velocity. Another interesting feature is to obtain velocity and temperature distributions, when the natural convection dominates over the forced convection and vice versa. This case has also been discussed. All the results are shown graphically. Skin friction and the Nusselt number giving the rate of cooling of the surface, are also computed.
