    Abstract

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, affecting 1 in 10 women in the UK. Symptoms include painful periods, chronic pelvic pain, and difficulty getting pregnant. Diagnosis often takes 8 years due to communication issues and pain normalisation. This project aims to improve communication about endometriosis pain through a novel blend of health psychology, linguistics, and art and design. By engaging the public with endometriosis in a series of workshops to create visual artefacts of pain, we developed a toolkit to support effective communication and reduce diagnosis delays. The images within this dataset underpin that toolkit, and constitute visual representations of our participants’ endometriosis.
