Abstract

The memoirs of motoring pioneer A.C. Hills (1864-1952) have recently come to light and provide new insights into the social and commercial worlds of the cycling-cum-motoring pioneers. As a lesser player, Hills's world view and achievements help illuminate a society so often overshadowed by bigger actors.
