    Abstract

In this article, a 1D sinusoidally modulated leaky- wave antenna (SMLWA) that makes a beam with scanning frequency is outlined. An array of metallic strips having statistically distributed inter-metallic gap has been arranged in a linear fashion on the top of a grounded dielectric substrate. Making a frequency sweep between 14 GHz to 19 GHz, an average beam squint range of 28 ° -30 ° has been reported. Different statistical distributions are applied to modulate the overall reactance of the metal strip array. Each beam squinting angle reported in the article exhibits an average gain above 14 dBi.
