    Abstract

This paper proposes a compact wideband and multiband geometrically deformed parasitically coupled microstrip patch antenna (MPA). A consecutive stage analysis is presented to demonstrate an improvement of the return loss bandwidth (RLBW) of four stages. The proposed MPA exhibits a tri-band operation over the 5.82 GHz, 8.10 GHz, 9.23 GHz, and 12.49 GHz resonant frequencies corresponding to 8.6%, 24.6%, 21.7% and 6.8% RLBW respectively. There is no significant distortion of the radiation pattern at the operating frequencies. A customized empirical relationship has been derived to estimate the S11(dB) based on the resonance frequency and the effective electrical length.
