Abstract

Manchester Voices is a sociolinguistics project exploring the accents, dialects and identities of people across the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester. It generated the following sets of data: (1) Video and audio recordings from The Accent Van – a mobile recording studio in which people reflected on the way they speak and what it means to them. (2) Audio recordings from the Virtual Van – an online version of the Accent Van. (3) Audio recordings from a pronunciation task. (4) Maps and associated labels from an online ‘draw a map’ task.
