    Abstract

    The pandemic caused by SarsCoV-2 virus placed significant challenges to all sectors of society – where the impact on economic, health and educational instructions was immense. In UK Higher Education, all face-to-face teaching was replaced with on-line, or virtual delivery and assessments. Lectures and tutorial were delivered over streaming / video conference platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom Video Communications. The MSc in Clinical science is the academic portion of the UK’s National Scientist Training Programme, which trains clinical scientist for the UK healthcare workforce. Many of the lectures are delivered by practicing clinical scientists, clinicians, scientists, and biomedical scientists, who are recruited as Associate lecturers (AL) from clinics, hospitals, and universities nationwide. To respond to Covid-induced limitations and restrictions all teaching was converted to online delivery. As restrictions were lifted, and more face-to-face teaching permitted, a more hybrid format was adopted to cater for both students and lecturers’ sudden absence due to SarsCov-2 positive infection or isolation. The hybrid format permitted the lecture to deliver the material via video conference streaming in classroom for attending students and online for those isolating. This hybrid model has been further adopted to allow our AL to continue to deliver material without travelling to campus (where appropriate) whilst maintaining an engaging session.
