Abstract

The article presents the study "Optimising Storage and Access in UK Research Libraries" by John Fielden, Colin Harris, Helen Hayes and Allan Schofield. It evaluates the present shortage of research library storage, the options for the most efficient and cost-effective nationwide solution and to make recommendations. The growth of print collections is constant despite the growing number of electronic journals. Research libraries are surveyed, with a response rate of 88 percent.
